Climate Change and Displacement – Practices from Kenya

Since August 2023, the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) and the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Reduction (GNDR) have convened representatives of community-based organizations from across Kenya to listen to their stories and learn about their experiences addressing displacement in the context of climate change.

Through a series of consultations conducted across the country, PDD and GNDR have identified innovative practices and approaches to address the intersection between displacement and the adverse effects of climate change, taking note of challenges and outcomes. This work has resulted in a series of case studies that provide visibility to the efforts of civil society organizations working to address the losses and damages that communities at the frontlines of the climate crisis are facing.

The case studies cover a multitude of climate impacts across Kenya and will help support a process of mutual learning and exchange on climate change and displacement.
