Technical Consultation of the Task Force on Displacement On the Implementation of its 3rd Plan of Action

On July 11, 2023, Task Force on Displacement (TFD) members and other relevant stakeholders took part in a one-day, hybrid stakeholder consultation discussing progress under the TFD 3rd plan of action. The workshop was co-organized by the Secretariat of the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and was the starting step to an ongoing process to align work under the UNFCCC and human mobility-related processes. 

The objectives of the consultation included:

  1. Advancing the process towards a joint TFD-UNMN stakeholder consultation (outcome 1 of the TPD Plan of Action);
  2. identifying and discussing opportunities for the preparation and dissemination of the TFD recommendations in the work of the Santiago Network and of the Transitional Committee in follow-up to COP27 decisions on Loss and Damage, in current and future discussions on loss and damage financing, as well as in the Global Stocktake (outcomes 7 and 8 of the TFD Plan of Action); and
  3. gathering technical inputs to progress on key activities under the TFD Plan of Action. 

The event was attended by representatives of the Governments of Bangladesh, Canada, and the United States, as well as: COAST Foundation, Climate Vulnerable Forum, International Council of Voluntary Agencies, International Displacement Monitoring Centre, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, International Labour Organization, International Organization for Migration, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Norwegian Refugee Council, Platform on Disaster Displacement, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner, Office of the Special Adviser on Solutions to Internal Displacement, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and Official Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC.
